A visit to the Isles of Beginners Mind
How a template for doodle from one of my own activity Mappery Moodles Activity Books turned into a map of Beginners Mind
This doodle reminds me that a Beginner’s Mind mindset is about loosening my tight grip on control. These islands explore all the good stuff the mindset offers: possibility, openness, wonder, flexibility and the holy trio of: What if?, Why?, and I wonder…

Beginner’s Mind or “Shoshin” helps me tune into myself, people, ideas, possibilities and conversations with fewer assumptions. It keeps my attention awake. It keeps me playful. It keeps me asking better questions of my work and myself.
The template for doodle came from one of my own activity Mappery Moodles Activity Books1. It looked like this before I filled it with ideas and colour.

Over to you …
If you fancy a little exploration, delve into the words and phrases in the map
Find the word or phrase that grabs you first. Don’t overthink it. Let your eyes rest where they want. Is it relevant to your life at this moment?
Drop that word, or an emoji that matches the mood, in the comments. I’m curious to know what word caught your attention.
More map goodness coming soon - whenever inspiration allows.
