Fey folk burrow
A 100-word story set in Zee-Runty Fey - part of Fictional Moodling's "Summer of Magic" series series published each Tuesday and Friday until 8th September
Till steps through the archway: a living network of intertwined plants and woven lattices of roots. His world-weary adult view falls away. The stone path ahead sparkles with iridescent crystals. The magic enfolds him like a gown.
Observing him closely, tiny, jewel-coloured fey-folk flutter silently behind the wisteria blossom, suffusing the burrow with lustrous rainbow light and vibrating energy.
Before long, he’s surrounded by fey. He leaves his physical body and becomes one with them. Small enough to perch on a leaf, to nestle in a flower bud, to whirl!
He is one with the whirlwind of a million lights.

This story is part of my Summer of Magic series made up mostly of 100-word stories inspired by by some of the Fairy Doors and structures we saw in the gardens.
I am publishing the stories each Tuesday and Friday until the 8th September. Join me as we journey around the magical realm of Zee-Runty Fey, which is criss-crossed by bewitching and enchanting connections and a host of characters, either depicted on the doors, or imagined. I’ll be sprinkling a large measure of fairy dust to transport us into a world of wonder, whimsy and imaginative possibility.
