Here’s my first card, numbered 34 in the pack of 50. It seemed fitting (and logical) to start with the card that inspired the name of this project: moodle. If you want to find out a bit more about the project and a little bit of backstory, head to the About page.
The card art
These cards are about 9cm by 6cm (roughly the size of a business card). I used a mixture of techniques combining freehand mark making and collage. Small bits of colour were added using the marvellous Caran D’Ache Neocolor II watercolour crayons in my favourite colours: purple and green. The purplish papers are packaging from supermarket cookies. The colour and pattern caught my eye!
The practice: Moodling
My favourite way to walk is to moodle - without a set purpose. If I’m honest, I dislike walking to get somewhere, my body is not built for that and never has been. I prefer to meander, camera in hand for as long as it takes - noticing, pausing, appreciating, going where my curiosity takes me. I'm more than happy to do this alone or with a like-minded companion rather than someone who likes walking fast, as moodling can be frustrating for them!
Quintessence:
Moodling is an excellent way to let your mind wander, get fresh air, replenish energies and play! No pressure to get anywhere, or to be anywhere at a certain time.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a little bit more about moodling, and where the word comes from!
I’ve just read your ‘about’ page Debs, and you know, just the word ‘moodle’ sounds like me! I’m going to love this a lot… thank you for sharing !
