Unfolded
A fictional 100 word story, inspired by something that brings me joy
A musty, earthy smell arises as I unfold, my paper crackling with the unfurling. My fold lines are delicate from years of creasing. I love how they add texture and pattern to my paper. A new world awaits discovery as I am spread wide. I’m sizable, yet in my small scale, I am comprehensive. I contain heaps of minute detail and conceptual ideas shown by numbers, words, abbreviations, symbols, lines, colours, shapes. What wonders will be revealed by the details on my page? What history and treasures are hidden in my pages? I wonder … what adventures will I inspire?
I’m sure you can guess what my story refers to? Responses in the comments please!

Say hi!
I adore maps ... with so much electronic navigation available to us, we seem to have lost the art of using them. It makes me think that JoJo and I should try a bike route using just maps and our noses! Love that opening "A musty, earthy smell arises as I unfold, my paper crackling with the unfurling. My fold lines are delicate from years of creasing."
So glad the idea struck a chord
I love when my call for 100 word stories inspires happy and positive stories! Helps to counterbalance my own morbid ones, for sure! I also have a notebook in preparation for October, though it’s nothing like you’ve just described. I feel I must up my journal game! lol
