I don’t know where your phrase came from either Debs, but it reminds me of something Mary Oliver may have written... do you know her poetry?

Morning Susie!

Thanks for the idea. I do know some Mary Oliver's work and she has said something similar, but I have a feeling it was Liz Gilbert or someone I follow on IG - but who?

This is the Mary Oliver one I know and like:

"“Every day

I see or hear

something

that more or less

kills me

with delight,

that leaves me

like a needle

in the haystack

of light.

It was what I was born for–

to look, to listen,

to lose myself

inside this soft world

(from, 'Mindful')

She is probably my all time favourite poet Debs, to me, every word she wrote touches a chord in my heart and soul….

“Tell me,

what is it you plan to do

with your one

wild and precious life?”

Words like this… xxx

Hi, of course you can! If we ever find out who said it, we can attribute it later!

Hello! It’s my first time hearing the word “moodle” and I suppose it’s a digital moodle that brought me to this writing of yours. I enjoyed it. I think the first person I heard say “expect to be delighted” was Jan Hatmaker, when she was talking about her rules of traveling. I’m not sure if she got it from somewhere, or if that’s even the exact phrase she used, but I like her and your outlook on life through this lens.

Hello Genny! So glad your digital moodle led you to me. Thank you for stopping by, for reading and commenting. I really appreciate it!

I will go and look at Jan Hatmaker and see if I can find the source! I'll let you know!

Where I heard it was a summer podcast, talking about her “me camp” turning to “we camp” and how unpredictable travel can be, but taking the perspective of being delighted into of holding tightly to your previous expectations.
