The core essence of guardianship: Balance
[Series Two: Episode 6] Crox enters the Capturing Chamber and the map building begins!
In the previous episode, Crox went to Sneureon to start building an important map of memories and knowledge, combining intuition and technology and enlisting the skills of the super charged, technologically advanced beings who live there.
In this episode, Crox enters the Capturing Chamber and the map building begins!
Location and map: The action takes place on Sneureon. Scroll down to the bottom of this letter for maps: the memory map, the Pleiades, and The Drifting Expanse! ⬇️
My grip tightens on the scroll. I’m nervous. This is it. The culmination of my time in the Prep Hub. But I can almost see the map taking shape – a tapestry woven from the raw fragments of my experience.
The Capturing Chamber, a sphere-like structure pulses with luminescence. "The Capturing Chamber welcomes you, Guardian,” a voice booms as I approach. “A reminder, before you enter. Your thoughts will be the map. As you focus on these memories, they will be captured, preserved. Later, you can label, organise, refine. Our specialists will then transform the data, present it visually, aurally, telepathically – whichever best serves your purpose."
I nod. The Chamber’s smooth, membrane-like sides offer no visible entrance. Hesitantly, I reach out to touch the shimmering distortion. With a soft sigh, the membrane ripples as I step through. I find myself cradled in the centre of the chamber, with only a spongy, squishy ball to sit on.
Taking a deep breath, I unfurl the scroll, my eyes scanning the first carefully written entry. I tentatively bring the first piece of knowledge to the forefront of my thoughts and as I do, a vibrant tendril of light detaches itself from the chamber wall, swirling around the specific memory in my mind. A soft hum resonates through the chamber, a confirmation that the process has begun.
I feel exhilarated. The process, which had felt daunting, feels strangely natural now. One by one, I navigate my list. With each captured piece of knowledge, a new tendril of light joins the swirling vortex around me, in a dance of information transfer…
I am a Guardian, a multidimensional, energetic being from the Pleiades star cluster. Myself and other Guardians took it upon ourselves to protect Hazel who lived in South Africa. Although she did not know it, she was a very special star seed, originating from the Pleiades, who had incarnated on Earth to nurture and guide the continuing evolution of humankind. As a Protective Guardian, I was tasked with being by her side from her 13th birthday, in whatever form necessary to provide her with protection.
I share knowledge about Hazel's connection to the Caprivi Strip (the confluence of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana), the land of her birth parents, a place she never truly knew. Her birth parents were business owners in the Caprivi Strip, but when they both passed in a terrible boating accident on the Zambezi River, she was rehomed to adoptive parents in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The stories of places like the Matobo Hills, Victoria Falls, God's Window, the Blyde River Canyon resonate through the chamber as I recall them. Hazel confessed to feeling "other" on Earth, a yearning for a place where she belonged. Her loneliness, her curiosity, and her amateur knowledge of magic – these were the brushstrokes that painted the fantastical realm of The Drifting Expanse. It was a refuge, a yearning for a connection she couldn't quite grasp, a reflection of her yearning for a home amongst the stars.
Despite my carefully written list, my thoughts wander. These pieces of knowledge I possess, which will be the first to be embedded in my map, go beyond Earth and Hazel's destiny.
For us as Guardians it’s about the core essence of guardianship – balance, of guiding evolution without dictating it. Images of overbearing intervention, of civilizations stifled by forced progress, pulsed alongside visions of gentle nudges, of potential unlocked through inspiration and collaboration. These too became tendrils of light, illuminating the chamber with a soft, guiding luminescence.
Certainly, Hazel's story is a central thread in this bigger picture. Her potential, the compassion, the wisdom that resided within this young starseed offset by the challenges she faced on Earth – the loneliness, the yearning for connection that birthed The Drifting Expanse.
I alone am the key - not just to Hazel's story (and Zhael’s continuing one), but to the stories woven into the fabric of The Drifting Expanse itself. Each location, each creature that she created have deeper meaning for her, significance for The Drifting Expanse and the worlds beyond.
“Enough. For now. My head hurts”, I whisper to myself as I stumble through the Chamber’s membrane to the space outside.
What might the memory map look like?
Well, here’s an artists impression of the first draft of Crox’s memory map! Little pockets of “data” - memories and knowledge, carefully recorded and placed, linked and cross referenced, seemingly conjured from the thoughts Crox shared.
And if he’s happy with it, it is ready for others to interact with back on To’Boam.
